‘My Heart is Silence’: Celebrating Rumi with Music, Poetry and Meditation

Iliona Khalili will present her late husband’s (Nader Khalili) extraordinary life and his well-known translations of Rumi.

dervish whirlThis is an interactive creative evening where we will use the Persian tradition of ‘fal’ – opening a book of poetry (usually Hafiz) at random and reading the first lines that come to eye to see if fate can answer our pressing questions. She would be very happy if audience members would read out some of her selections from ‘Fountain of Fire’ (or make their own selection). As ever we are open to original poetry and music from you.
Ending with traditional Sufi ‘zikr’ meditation of chanting, rhythm, breath, movement at about 8.45pm
