‘Remembrance of Love’: with Sufi Poetry, Music and Zikr – 5 Dec, 7 – 9:30 PM

Our theme for the end of year is healing. And we’d like to make this event a remembrance (Zikr) of love for the sufferings of this time. Remember our purpose is love and togetherness The vibrations of unity within Sufi poetry and prayer and music, created with the audience for universal healing.

There will be selections from classic and modern spiritual poetry in the original and translation, including Rumi, and verses from the Vedanta. Please share your original or favourite spiritual poems.

We are delighted to invite Rabiah and Sukainah from Pearls of Islam, a musical and poetic duo who perform traditional Arabic nasheeds and their own compositions.

Ending with a Sufi zikr at approximately 9pm – a traditional meditation of remembrance with chanting, movement, breathing, and music, which closes with prayers for humanity and the planet.

Early Zikr on Bank Holiday Monday & Sufi Exhibition at the British Museum

Sufi exhibition at the British Museum

On another note, the British Museum has an exciting Sufi exhibition titled “The Prince and the Pir; Dervishes and mysticism in Iran and India” (see photo attached).

This small display presents works on paper and objects exploring depictions of Sufi dervishes from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

This exhibition is free and continues until 8 July 2015. For further information, please read the British Museum section here.
